Air Force Balloon Over Commonwealth Avenue Bridge – Canberra | Limited Edition Framed Print
A fleeting moment of precision, symmetry and national pride, Air Force Balloon Over Commonwealth Avenue Bridge captures one of Canberra’s most iconic events from a unique perspective.
Photographed during the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, this image frames the Royal Australian Air Force hot air balloon perfectly between the twin spans of Commonwealth Avenue Bridge. Beyond the balloon, Parliament House rises on the horizon, creating a composition that brings together aviation, architecture and the nation’s capital in a single elegant scene.
The geometric lines of the bridge draw the eye toward the centre of the frame, while the soft dawn light and pastel sky create a sense of calm and balance. The result is a contemporary artwork that celebrates Canberra’s distinctive character and Australia’s enduring connection to flight.
Printed using archival pigment inks on museum-quality cotton rag paper and presented in a handcrafted frame, this limited edition artwork is designed to be enjoyed for generations. Whether displayed in a home, office or collection, it offers a striking conversation piece and a timeless view of the capital.

Rob's Thoughts
"I had been planning this image for years. It is quite a classic Canberra scene - one of the only places in the world where balloon fly by their dozens over a city at dawn. Being an Air Force Veteran, capturing the Air Force Balloon was a given! I missed the shot on the first day I was there because I had the wrong camera settings so I went back a second day. This time, the shot was perfect - with the crew lighting the burner just as they were in the middle of the bridges!"
