Rob's Thoughts

"I had only been out of the hospital for a week following my seizure. I was on a lot of pain-killers and there were still serious concerns about me having another seizure but I needed to get out and photograph for my mental and physical health. I couldn't drive so my wife took me to Cullen Bay - staying near home in case I couldn't manage. I couldn't carry a bag of lenses or a tripod so I just took my lightest camera and lens combo.

Feeling the warm ocean breeze was a relief but I was still feeling a lot of pain. As the sun set I found this driftwood on the shore, its withered, twisted and broken limbs a metaphor for my broken body. The colours of the sun setting behind the wood symbolised better times ahead and while I went home tired, this short trip gave me the will to begin a long recovery."
