Winter Veil Over the Arboretum – Limited Edition Framed Print
A fleeting winter dawn transforms Canberra into a landscape of quiet wonder in Winter Veil Over the Arboretum by Robert Vine.
Captured from the heights of the National Arboretum, this atmospheric image reveals frost-covered hills rolling into the distance beneath layers of drifting mist. Rising above the scene, Black Mountain Tower stands silhouetted against a luminous sunrise, its dark form contrasting with the soft pastel hues of the morning sky. Bands of fog weave between the ridgelines, creating depth and mystery while the first light of day gently illuminates the frozen landscape below.
This photograph celebrates the unique beauty of Canberra's winters—moments when frost, fog and light combine to create a scene that feels both timeless and ethereal. The delicate colour palette and expansive composition bring a sense of calm and contemplation, making this artwork equally suited to sophisticated homes, executive offices and contemporary interiors.
Printed using archival pigment inks on museum-grade cotton rag paper and presented in a handcrafted frame, each piece is part of a strictly limited edition and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.

Rob's Thoughts
"Frost is a common occurrence in Canberra and I knew that I wanted to capture it's effect on the landscape. However, getting to the right place at the right time had been impossible. Having transitioned to full-time photography meant that when I frost was forecast for a Wednesday morning I didn't have to try and balance photography with my 9-5 job! I got out to Dairy Farmer's Hill in time for a -5 degree sunrise but it was so stunning that I didn't notice the cold at all."
A vibrant celebration of Canberra's most colourful morning tradition.
