Snow Gum Tapestry – Perisher
Australia's snow gums are among the country's most remarkable trees. Twisted by decades of alpine winds, heavy snow and changing seasons, their sculptural forms tell a story of endurance that cannot be rushed. In Snow Gum Tapestry, their weathered branches weave together across a pristine blanket of snow, creating a natural artwork shaped entirely by time.
Captured during fresh snowfall in Perisher, this photograph celebrates the intricate beauty often overlooked in Australia's alpine landscape. The pale trunks, textured bark and subtle greens stand in quiet contrast to the surrounding snow, inviting the viewer to slow down and appreciate the elegance hidden within nature's complexity.
This piece offers a sense of calm and contemplation, making it an ideal artwork for collectors who appreciate Australia's unique wilderness and the timeless beauty of its mountain landscapes.
Rob's Thoughts
"It seemed as though this tree was reaching out to me, among all of the upright trees this one was horizontal. Branching out from the snow covered ground it had tried something different and was evidently thriving. This was a metaphor for my life at this time, I had left full time employment for photography and was thriving with the challenge of making and selling my work professionally."
